I knew a girl once,
the kind who stored her kisses
in bubble gum balloons.
the kind who wished, with all her heart,
for things you can’t get at the mart..
She searched for dew drops in the afternoon
and longed for lilies on sand dunes
She wanted rainbows across a starry night
and hold within her palm, secret rays of light.
I told her she was being a hopeless fool
aren’t beauty and desire bound by rules?
for even early morning dew must disappear
and lilies in lush green fields wither
rainbows must fade back into the blue
and mere mortals cannot covet a halo
but she didn’t listen,
and continues to thirst
I wonder what she’ll do
once her bubble gum balloons burst.
the kind who stored her kisses
in bubble gum balloons.
the kind who wished, with all her heart,
for things you can’t get at the mart..
She searched for dew drops in the afternoon
and longed for lilies on sand dunes
She wanted rainbows across a starry night
and hold within her palm, secret rays of light.
I told her she was being a hopeless fool
aren’t beauty and desire bound by rules?
for even early morning dew must disappear
and lilies in lush green fields wither
rainbows must fade back into the blue
and mere mortals cannot covet a halo
but she didn’t listen,
and continues to thirst
I wonder what she’ll do
once her bubble gum balloons burst.
